Capturing the essence of Quito

During the free tour you will be able to capture photographs of the colonial center of Quito, where you will discover beautiful buildings such as churches and monuments of historical figures; in addition to the essence of a Quito.

You will be able to learn about the history of photography in Ecuador that dates back to the 19th century, brought by travelers and adventurers, and thanks to them we can appreciate how beautiful Quito was in ancient times.

  • Start time: 10:30 a.m.

  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes approximately

  • Price:  At the end of the tour, you can choose how to reward the guide, depending on your enjoyment and possibilities.

  • Meeting point:  Conceptas Square ,  Garcia Moreno and Mejía esq. One block from the Plaza Grande.  ( see map )

Tour itinerary

The tour starts at 10:30 am at the Square of the Concepts where one of our guides will be waiting for you and will welcome you and give you several indications to make our tour unforgettable, then we will go to the square where colonial Quito was born, the Benalcazar Square.

Then we will go to Lizard Square, a place where in colonial times it was the orchards of the Franciscans. We will advance the Big square where we will talk about the history of the Historic Center and you will be able to capture unique images of the people of Quito, Once the perfect photos are achieved, we will visit the beautiful Archiepiscopal Palace.

 

We will continue with the tour and visit the impressive Metropolitan Cultural Center, where we can find several temporary exhibitions and several places to take incredible photos. We will continue with a small corner full of peculiarities, the square girl; to then walk through one of the oldest streets of what was Quito in the colony, the famous La Ronda

 

Finally, we will visit the majestic Saint Francis Church where we will meet the Virgin of Quito; after this, we will finish the tour with a flourish with a delicious chocolate tasting, so we will recover energy and we will be able to continue exploring Quito on our own.

  • How to join the tour?

Do not forget to book and on the day of the tour, you will find one of our guides at the meeting point with a crimson T-shirt, a black cap, and a sign with the logo de Kunakkuna Experiences.

  • What to bring for the tour?

  • camera or smartphone

  • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses.

  • Bottled water (you can buy it on the way)

  • Comfortable walking shoes.

  • Raincoat (rain poncho) Quito's weather is unpredictable.
