Cimarron waterfall option
📆 Day 1 - Exploring Ambato and arriving at the Hacienda
🕗 Start of tour: 08:00 a.m.
Our adventure begins heading to the charming city of Ambato, where we will take a short city tour through its historic center. We will walk through its streets full of history and tradition, visit some of its most representative buildings and, of course, taste the famous Cathedral Ice Cream.
Then, we will continue our trip to Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo, where we will live the authentic experience of a chagra (Andean horseman).
Upon arrival, we will settle into our rooms and enjoy a delicious typical lunch. Afterward, we will have time to relax before we visit the main church of Quero and its surroundings. Later, we will visit the artisanal brewery La Quereñita, the only one in the area that produces potato-based craft beer.
In the evening, we will enjoy a comforting dinner and close the day by the warmth of the fireplace, listening to fascinating stories and legends of the hacienda.
📆 Day 2 - Nature, adventure, and chagra tradition
We wake up with a pure páramo style breakfast at 08:00 a.m., charging us with energy for a day full of activities.
We will start with a walk in the pine forest, located in the upper part of the hacienda. With a little luck, we will be able to spot eagles, wolves, rabbits, and even wild cattle in their natural habitat.
On the way back, a delicious typical lunch awaits us. Afterward, we will experience the chagra tradition with a horseback riding lesson (subject to the availability of horses at the hacienda) and participate in experiential activities, where we will learn about life in the páramo and the daily work of the chagras.
After a well-deserved rest, we will enjoy a delicious dinner and again gather by the fireplace to share stories of yesteryear under the starry sky of the páramo.
📆 Day 3 - Farewell to the páramo and return to Quito
We will start our last day with an energizing breakfast at 08:00 am. Afterward, we will collect our belongings and bid farewell to the hacienda to embark on our return to Quito, where our experience will come to an end.

📆 Day 1 - Discovering Ambato and Arriving at the Hacienda

Our adventure begins with a drive to the beautiful city of Ambato, where we will take a short city tour through its historic heart. We will walk through its charming streets, get to know some of its most representative buildings and, of course, taste the famous Cathedral Ice Cream.
Afterwards, we will head to the Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo, where we will immerse ourselves in the life of the páramo and feel like authentic chagras (Andean horsemen).
Upon arrival, we will settle into our rooms and take a well-deserved rest before enjoying a delicious typical lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit the main church of Quero and its surroundings, and then head to the community of Puñachizag, where we will discover La Quereñita Brewery, the only one in the area that brews craft beer from potatoes.
At nightfall, we will enjoy a comforting dinner and close the day by the fireplace, listening to stories and legends of the hacienda under the starry sky of the paramo.
📆 Day 2 - Hike in the Páramo and Chagra Life
⏰ Breakfast: 07:00 a.m.
We wake up early to enjoy a chagra-style breakfast, charging us with energy for the day ahead.
At 08:00 a.m., we will head to the southern end of the hacienda, where we will find ourselves in a grassy wasteland surrounded by the Igualata hill. Before starting the hike, our guide will give us all the instructions to make this experience safe and unforgettable.
🏔️ Páramo hike - For approximately 5 hours, we will explore this magical environment, with the opportunity to observe eagles, wolves, rabbits, and even wild cattle.
Halfway through the walk, we will take a break to recharge our batteries with a box lunch, enjoying the tranquility of the páramo. Then, we will continue to the pine forest, a unique landscape that will take us back to the hacienda.
Once at the hacienda, a typical lunch of the area awaits us. In the afternoon, we will have a horseback riding lesson (subject to availability of horses) and participate in experiential activities, learning more about the life and traditions of the Chagras.
After a well-deserved rest, we will enjoy a delicious dinner, and, as a finishing touch, we will gather once again by the warmth of the fireplace to share ancestral stories and legends.
📆 Day 3 - Farewell to the Páramo and Return to Quito

On our last day at Hacienda Hipolongo, we will enjoy an energizing breakfast before packing up and heading back to Quito, where our adventure will end.
